Sons of The American Legion
Detachment of Maryland
First and foremost, I would like to wish all veterans a Happy Veterans Day and say “Thank You for your service nobly done”
Americanism is only one of the four pillars, and its success or failure all depends on everyone to get the job done. We all need to help support the programs at hand. If we don’t this Pillar will not be able to stand, and the other three pillars will need to take all the weight. I am sure we do not wish to have that happen.
Boys State - I ask each squadron to sponsor a bright and well deserving youth. This program is a great way for our future leaders to understand and learn more of our government and how it works.
Scouting - Does your squadron or post sponsor a troop? If not, is there a local trop you might be able to help support. As an Eagle Scout myself the scouting program helps to teach our youngsters many skills that they can use now and later on when they are adults.
Some additional goals have also been passed down from the NEW Americanism Commission. Increase Squadron Participation in American legion Baseball, Boy’s State, Oratorical by 10% and Increase entries for scrap book and history books by 25%.
We are all here to “inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation”. We are proud of all we do and let your pride show. Pass along what your squadron is doing to me as I want to hear of all your good deeds supporting our Americanism programs.
Remember we are all a T.E.A.M. (Together Everyone Achieves More)
For God and Country
