Sons of The American Legion
Detachment of Maryland
For a Nation to survive, it must have strong citizens. Americanism, as one of the “Four Pillars” of the American Legion, strives to promote strong citizens through its various programs.
Programs such as Boys State and the National Oratorical Contest teach understanding of how our National Government operates and encourages love for our country’s traditions and way of life.
Americanism also takes a strong interest in children and youth programs like Scouting America, American Legion Baseball, and Junior Shooting Sports. These programs teach our youth leadership, responsibility, and teamwork in achieving a common goal. These skills help build the strong future citizens and leaders necessary to sustain our country having the best way of life ever know.
Various other programs like Flag Advocacy and various scholarship programs encourage loyalty to God and Country, a major ternate of the American Legion.
In my chairmanship of the Americanism Committee, I look forward to working with squadrons to support our veterans and community. Together we can be “Sons Having Fun, Getting it Done” and work to build a better Nation.
