Americanism is one of the four pillars of The American Legion and is defined as the "Allegiance to the traditions, interests and ideals of the United States".

Each of us can practice Americanism daily by demonstrating love for our country, flying our flag, celebrating patriotic holidays, defending and upholding our Constitution, teaching our nations youth the importance of the Pledge of Allegiance and our Nations values and being an overall good citizen by volunteering and having respect and compassion for others. Another way to show Americanism is to support our many programs listed below

Boys State: American Legion Boys State is a respected educational program of government instruction for male high school juniors. Squadrons are urged to sponsor a local youth member or make a donation in support of this wonderful annual program held in June.

NEF: The National Emergency Fund provides direct funding to American Legion Family Members and Posts to assist them with recovery when tragedy strikes. Learn more about this program below and consider making a monetary donation in support of this program.

Boy Scouts: "The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law". Posts are encouraged to sponsor a local troop and Squadrons are asked to support the programs of the Scouts.

Flag Replacement: Squadrons are urged to participate in the Flag Replacement Program by providing flags to community members whose flags are worn or tattered. It is also a time to provide information on the US Flag Code. Certificates are now available to recognize community members for showing their patriotism by displaying the flag.

I encourage anyone with questions about any of our Programs to contact me and I look forward to another successful year due to the support of all of our Squadrons.
