Sons of The American Legion
Detachment of Maryland
Children & Youth being one of the four pillars of the American Legion, the Sons of The American Legion and Detachment of Maryland is a strong supporter and advocate of our nation’s youth.
The Detachment of Maryland remains committed to supporting programs focused on our children's physical and mental well-being, education, and future. Some of these programs include the Child Welfare Foundation (CWF), Special Olympics of Maryland, Casey Cares, Toys for Tots, Children's Miracle Network and many more. You can find more information about some of these programs below.
Membership is the driving force of our organization, and our youth is our future! In addition to our annual campout, the Detachment holds junior activities each year at Convention including 5 Star & 10 Ideals, Wii bowling, cornhole and more. Individual Squadrons are urged to recruit and engage their junior members.
Mark your calendars for this year's annual Detachment Campout held at Southern Maryland Youth Camp, September 29th - October 1st. This event is provided free of charge! Activities include Junior Shooting Sports, flag retirement, games and much more!
It's not to early to start preparing for the holiday season. Each year, Squadrons across the Detachment collect toys and make monetary donations supporting the Toys for Tots program. Information on drop off locations will be forthcoming.
On behalf of the entire Detachment of Maryland, I thank you for your continued support of our Children & Youth programs.
Together, we are...
Sons Building a Stronger Community...
